What does hoarse voice feel like with thyroid cancer?

Hoarseness can feel like effortful speech, a dry or scratchy throat, reduced volume, or a voice that fades after talking. Thyroid Cancer may affect nearby tissues or the nerve that helps move a vocal cord, which can alter sound. Most people with Thyroid Cancer notice hoarse voice, although many non-cancer causes can do the same, including a cold, voice strain, reflux, or irritation. The voice symptom needs context and examination rather than interpretation in isolation.

Write down when the hoarseness began and whether it is worsening. Mention any swelling at the front of the neck, a new lump, cough, noisy breathing, throat pressure, or swallowing difficulty.
