Short answer

Headache is a common presentation of Generalised Anxiety Disorder and may feel like a tight, pressing ache around the head.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

How tension may show up

Anxiety-associated headache is often described as pressure across the forehead, temples, or back of the head, as though a band is being worn. Tight jaw, raised shoulders, neck stiffness, shallow breathing, poor sleep, and long periods of screen use can add to the discomfort. Worry may make you notice the pain more, while the pain can increase worry in return. Generalised anxiety disorder includes ongoing, difficult-to-control worry and other symptoms; headache alone does not establish that diagnosis. Migraine and physical illness can have different patterns.

Ways to ease the pattern

Pause for slow, comfortable breathing and relax your jaw and shoulders. Take screen breaks, keep regular meals and sleep routines, and use gentle movement if it does not worsen the pain. Write down when the headache appears, what you were doing, sleep quality, caffeine, and accompanying symptoms. A clinician or pharmacist can help select pain relief and can discuss talking therapies, medication, or other support if worry is persistent.

When assessment is urgent

Seek urgent help for a sudden severe headache, new weakness or numbness, trouble speaking, fainting, confusion, seizure, fever with a stiff neck, repeated vomiting, or a headache after a significant injury. Arrange a clinical review when headaches are new, changing, frequent, waking you from sleep, or interfering with daily life. Get immediate support if anxiety includes thoughts of self-harm or feeling unable to stay safe.

Questions to discuss

Could neck or jaw tension, sleep, caffeine, or another condition be contributing? What headache diary details would help? Which anxiety treatments fit my situation, and what should I do if worry or thoughts of self-harm become overwhelming?

Questions people ask

Can anxiety cause a headache every day?

Persistent anxiety and tension can accompany frequent headaches, but a recurring headache pattern deserves clinical review.

Does a headache prove I have an anxiety disorder?

No. Headache has many causes, and an anxiety disorder is assessed from the wider pattern of worry, symptoms, and daily impact.
