What does excessive burping feel like with acid reflux?

Burping may come with pressure or fullness in the upper abdomen and a feeling that air is moving back up. Acid reflux can add a burning feeling behind the breastbone, an acidic or bitter taste, throat irritation, hoarseness, or a cough. Symptoms may be more noticeable after a large meal, when bending over, or when lying down. Seek urgent help for chest pressure or pain with breathlessness, sweating, faintness, or pain spreading to the arm or jaw, because heart problems can resemble reflux.
