What does difficulty passing urine feel like with bladder cancer?

Changes can include waiting for urine to start, a stop-start stream, urgency, burning, or feeling that the bladder has not emptied. Blood in the urine may be visible or found during testing, and it should be assessed even if it appears once or settles. These symptoms also occur with infection, prostate enlargement, stones, and other conditions; the symptom pattern cannot confirm the cause by itself.

Contact a clinician if passing urine becomes difficult, painful, unusually frequent, or visibly bloody. Keep a short record of when symptoms began, whether the urine changed colour, and whether you have pain, fever, or back discomfort.
