What does chest tightness feel like with angina?

Short answer
Chest Tightness is a very common presentation of Angina. It may feel like pressure, squeezing, heaviness, or fullness during exertion and improve with rest.
This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

The usual angina pattern
Angina happens when the heart muscle does not receive enough oxygen-rich blood for its needs. Tightness may come on while walking, climbing stairs, or under emotional strain. It can spread to the arm, shoulder, neck, jaw, or back and may occur with breathlessness, nausea, or sweating.
Some people have less typical symptoms, especially older adults and people with diabetes. Tightness can also come from non-heart causes, but the pattern cannot safely confirm the explanation. New symptoms need medical assessment.
What to do during an episode
Stop exertion, sit down, and follow the personal angina plan prescribed for you. Note what you were doing, how long the sensation lasted, and whether it settled with rest or prescribed medicine. Arrange a medical review for new, changing, or more frequent episodes.
Do not exercise through chest tightness or borrow heart medicine. If you have not been given an individual plan, seek urgent advice rather than guessing what to take.
When to call emergency services
Call emergency services for tightness that is severe, lasts longer than expected, occurs at rest, or does not settle with your prescribed plan. Get help immediately if it spreads to the jaw or arm or comes with breathlessness, fainting, cold sweating, or sudden weakness.

Questions for your doctor
Ask: Could this be angina or another cause? What should I do if it starts during activity? Which medicines belong in my personal plan? What change in frequency, duration, or trigger should prompt urgent review?

What if chest tightness starts while I am resting?
Chest tightness at rest, especially with breathlessness, sweating, faintness, or spreading discomfort, needs emergency help.
