What does chest pain feel like with gastritis?

Gastritis is irritation or inflammation of the stomach lining. Pain can sit high in the abdomen and be perceived near the lower breastbone. Bloating, belching, early fullness, nausea, or vomiting may accompany it. Symptoms can worsen after alcohol, irritating medicines, or foods that upset your stomach, although triggers vary.

Chest discomfort has many possible causes, including problems involving the heart and lungs. The location or burning quality cannot safely identify gastritis by itself, so a new symptom deserves careful attention.

Pause foods or drinks that clearly aggravate symptoms, choose smaller gentle meals, and avoid lying down soon after eating. Take only medicines recommended for you, because some pain medicines can irritate the stomach. Arrange a medical review if symptoms keep returning, interfere with eating, or occur after starting a new medicine.
