Chondrosarcoma begins in cartilage-producing tissue and may affect bones near the pelvis, shoulder, ribs, or limbs. Pain can feel deep, dull, or pressure-like rather than like a surface cut. It may be present during activity and later continue at rest. A firm swelling, reduced movement near a joint, or tenderness from clothing or touch may occur. Symptoms depend on the location and size of the affected area.
