What do blackheads feel like with acne?

Blackheads is a very common presentation of Acne. They form when a pore becomes blocked with oil and dead skin cells, while the opening remains exposed to air. The dark colour is related to the exposed material, not surface dirt. On the nose, forehead, chin, chest, or back, a blackhead may feel like a tiny bead or grain under the fingertips. Redness, warmth, swelling, or tenderness is more suggestive of irritation or an inflamed acne spot than an uncomplicated blackhead.

Wash gently and avoid scrubbing, squeezing, or using rough tools, which can injure the pore and leave inflammation. Choose skin products labelled non-comedogenic when possible, and remove makeup before bed. A clinician or pharmacist can explain whether a topical pore-clearing treatment suits your skin. Give any recommended routine time to work and apply it consistently; using several irritating products at once can make bumps feel more noticeable.
