What are the treatment options for transient ischaemic attack?

A transient ischaemic attack causes stroke-like symptoms that resolve, but it can signal a problem with blood flow to the brain. Doctors may review your symptoms, medicines, heart rhythm, blood vessels and vascular risk factors. The treatment plan is based on that assessment rather than on the temporary nature of the symptoms. Seek prompt medical assessment even if symptoms have stopped. Your clinician may prescribe or adjust medicines for blood pressure, cholesterol or clot prevention, and may arrange further tests or specialist review. Take prescribed medicines consistently and do not stop them without advice.
