What are the treatment options for Sever's disease?

Sever's disease, also called calcaneal apophysitis, is irritation where the heel bone is still developing. Repeated running and jumping can pull on this area, causing pain at the back or underside of the heel. It is not a disease caused by infection, and symptoms often vary with activity.

A child may need a short break from painful running, jumping or sport, followed by a gradual return as walking and exercise become comfortable. Ice wrapped in a cloth after activity can ease soreness.
