BPPV causes brief spinning episodes when the head changes position, such as turning in bed or looking upward. Small inner-ear particles can move into a balance canal and send confusing movement signals. A clinician checks which side and canal are involved before selecting a manoeuvre. The Epley Manoeuvre uses a sequence of head and body positions to guide those particles out of the canal.
