What are the symptoms of glioblastoma?

Symptoms depend on the part of the brain involved and may develop gradually or become noticeable suddenly. A persistent headache may be worse in the morning, with coughing, or with straining, but headache alone has many possible causes. A new seizure, trouble finding words, confusion, difficulty walking, one-sided weakness, numbness, nausea, or repeated vomiting can also occur. Changes in memory, concentration, behaviour, or personality may be noticed by the person or by family members.

Arrange medical assessment for a new or persistent neurological symptom, especially if it is worsening or affecting work, speech, balance, or daily activities. A first-time seizure and a persistent headache each deserve prompt clinical attention.

Seek emergency help for a first seizure, a seizure that does not stop, sudden weakness or loss of speech, severe confusion, collapse, or a rapidly worsening headache with repeated vomiting. Do not drive after a seizure or while new neurological symptoms make driving unsafe. During a seizure, protect the person from nearby hazards, place them on their side when possible, and do not put anything in their mouth.
