What are the first signs of dyshidrotic eczema?

The blisters are often grouped closely together and may feel deep rather than sitting loosely on the surface. They can appear on both hands or feet, then dry and leave peeling, cracked, or tender skin. Heat, sweating, stress, and contact with irritating substances may aggravate symptoms for some people. A fungal infection and other forms of eczema can look similar, so a clinician may need to examine the distribution and skin surface.

Keep the area cool and dry, wash with lukewarm water, and use a fragrance-free moisturiser after washing. Wear protective gloves for wet work, with a soft cotton layer if needed, and do not intentionally burst the blisters. A clinician may prescribe Topical Corticosteroids for an active flare; Narrowband UVB Phototherapy can be discussed for selected persistent cases.
