What should you know about Weleda diaper rash?

Nappy rash, also called diaper dermatitis, is irritation in skin covered by a nappy. Moisture, contact with urine or stool, friction, and fragranced products can weaken the skin barrier. Redness may be smooth or appear with small spots, soreness, or peeling. A rash that spreads into the folds, has satellite spots, or follows antibiotic use can have a yeast component; this may need a clinician-recommended antifungal treatment. A product can calm irritation without treating every cause.

Change wet or soiled nappies promptly, rinse gently with lukewarm water, and pat rather than rub. Allow the area to air briefly when practical, then apply a simple protective layer according to the product directions. Avoid talc, antiseptics, scrubbing, and new scented wipes while the skin is inflamed. If the product stings, causes swelling, or makes redness worse, stop it and seek advice. Arrange medical advice if the rash is painful, raw, blistered, oozing, crusted, rapidly spreading, or not improving with careful nappy care.
