The clinician uses a small tip and light to inspect the ear, while the digital system displays the view on a screen. This may make it easier to explain findings to you, compare the ears, or review an image during the same consultation. Findings can include wax, irritation, discharge, fluid, or changes to the eardrum.

A clear image still needs clinical interpretation. Wax, movement, narrow canals, or pain can reduce the view. Digital otoscopy does not replace a hearing assessment and cannot establish the cause of every ear symptom by itself.

Share the timing of your symptoms and mention ear discharge, fever, swimming, injury, hearing change, or previous ear surgery. Avoid putting objects or unprescribed drops into the ear.
