Vyvanse rash on face: what to know

A new facial rash can appear as redness, small bumps, hives, dryness, scaling, burning, or itching. A medicine-related eruption can begin after starting Vyvanse, changing the dose, or taking it again after a break, but timing alone cannot confirm the cause. Irritant or allergic contact dermatitis from skincare, hair products, or adhesive can look similar. Other possibilities include atopic dermatitis, heat rash, psoriasis, ringworm, scabies, or intertrigo in a skin fold.

Note whether the rash is spreading, raised, painful, blistering, or associated with fever, mouth sores, eye discomfort, or peeling. Take clear photographs and record every medicine, supplement, and recently used product for the clinician.

Contact the prescriber promptly for advice before taking another dose if the rash began after Vyvanse. Do not restart, stop, or substitute prescription treatment without discussing the safest plan. Use a gentle cleanser, avoid scrubbing and fragranced products, and do not apply a new steroid or antibiotic cream to the face unless instructed. Keep the area cool and protect it from sun exposure. A clinician may examine the skin and decide whether the medicine should be changed or whether the rash needs another treatment.

Call emergency services for trouble breathing, throat tightness, faintness, or rapid swelling of the lips, tongue, face, or eyelids. Seek urgent medical assessment for widespread hives, blistering, skin pain, peeling, fever, sores in the mouth or eyes, or a rash that is rapidly worsening. These features can signal a serious reaction and should not be managed with home skincare alone.

Ask whether the appearance and timing fit a drug eruption, which dose plan is safest, which ingredients to avoid, and whether you need an examination or allergy evaluation. Bring the medicine packaging, a list of other products, and photographs showing how the rash changed.
