What should you know about Visine for a droopy eyelid?

A low upper eyelid can result from excess eyelid skin, known as dermatochalasis, or from weakness of the muscle that lifts the lid. It can also develop with nerve or eye conditions, swelling, trauma, or changes that affect the brow. Redness-relieving drops may temporarily change the appearance of the eye surface but do not remove skin or restore eyelid movement. A droopy lid can be cosmetic, but a new or uneven change needs medical context.

Do not put Visine on the eyelid skin, and use eye drops only according to their label or a clinician’s advice. Note when the droop began, whether it varies during the day, and whether it affects vision. An eye doctor can assess lid position, pupils, eye movements, and vision. Get urgent medical help for sudden eyelid drooping with double vision, unequal pupils, severe headache, facial weakness, trouble speaking, limb weakness, or loss of vision. Prompt assessment is also needed after an injury or when the eye is very painful, red, or swollen. These signs are not explained by ordinary excess eyelid skin alone.
