What should you know about veridian pulse oximeter?

The clip uses light to estimate how much oxygen is carried in your blood and displays a pulse rate. It does not diagnose the cause of breathlessness, chest pain or a fast heartbeat. Cold fingers, movement, poor circulation, nail products, an incorrect fit or a weak signal can make a result less reliable. A single unexpected number should be rechecked after you have rested and warmed your hand, while watching how you feel.

Sit quietly, keep your hand relaxed and place the device on a clean fingertip according to its instructions. Wait for the displayed values to settle, note the reading and time, and repeat if the result does not match how you feel. Keep a record if a clinician has asked you to monitor at home. Do not use the device to delay an assessment, change oxygen therapy or alter prescribed treatment. Take it to a GP consultation if you need help understanding a pattern.

Seek emergency help for severe breathing difficulty, blue or grey lips, fainting, new confusion, severe chest pain or marked drowsiness, regardless of the displayed number. Contact a clinician promptly if readings remain unexpectedly low for you after a careful repeat, or if breathlessness, wheezing or weakness is getting worse. A normal-looking reading does not rule out a serious problem when symptoms are severe.
