What should you know about used linear accelerators for sale?

A linear accelerator creates and shapes high-energy radiation for carefully planned treatment. Its clinical usefulness depends on more than the machine itself: software, imaging tools, treatment-planning systems, room shielding, cooling, power, and trained staff must work together. Age or previous use does not by itself establish whether a system is suitable for a particular service.

Ask for service history, maintenance records, software versions, operating hours, configuration, included accessories, and evidence of recent quality assurance. Confirm that the room can support the equipment and that local radiation-safety and licensing requirements can be met. Plan acceptance testing and commissioning by qualified medical physics staff before treating anyone. Check whether replacement parts, vendor support, training, and cybersecurity updates remain available.

This equipment is not a patient self-care product. If you are offered radiotherapy, ask whether the treatment unit has completed commissioning and daily safety checks. Report unexpected treatment interruptions, new positioning problems, or a change in the treatment plan to the radiation team promptly; do not try to resolve machine concerns independently.
