Under-eye filler on Black skin: what to know

Darkness beneath the eyes may come from a tear-trough shadow, natural pigmentation, visible vessels, thin skin, or a combination. Filler can change a contour-related shadow, but it does not remove pigment or treat every cause of dark circles. Darker skin can develop noticeable colour change after irritation or inflammation. Ask the injector how they reduce unnecessary trauma and how they would respond if a temporary mark or swelling appears. Review photographs of patients with a range of skin tones, while remembering that another person’s result cannot predict yours.

Choose a qualified medical injector who can examine the eyelid, cheek support, skin texture, and pigmentation in person. Discuss previous reactions, eczema or irritation near the eyes, eye disease, medicines, and any earlier filler. Request clear instructions for the first days after treatment. Avoid rubbing or adding unapproved products to the area. Swelling or bruising may temporarily alter the colour and contour, so wait for the clinician’s review before judging the final appearance.

Call the clinic for increasing warmth, redness, drainage, worsening pain, or swelling that does not follow the expected course. Seek urgent care for vision change, severe eye pain, unusual whitening or mottling of the skin, or fast, marked swelling. These signs need direct assessment regardless of skin tone.
