How peel types differ
Superficial peels work mainly in the outer skin and may use acids such as Glycolic Acid. They are commonly considered for uneven tone, rough texture, mild acne, or dull-looking skin. Medium-depth peels reach farther and usually cause more visible peeling and downtime. Deep peels affect deeper layers and require careful medical selection and aftercare. A peel is chosen for a specific concern, not simply by its name. Acne and Comedonal Acne may need different plans, while Melasma and Post-Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation can worsen after irritation in some skin tones. Sun-Damaged Skin, Sun Spots, and Keratosis Pilaris may also be discussed, but diagnosis comes before treatment.
Preparing and caring for skin
At consultation, share your skin history, tendency to darken after inflammation, recent sun exposure, active rashes, and products or medicines that irritate your skin. Follow the clinic's preparation instructions and do not pick peeling skin. Use gentle cleansing, moisturiser, and broad-spectrum sun protection while the barrier recovers. Avoid adding exfoliating acids, retinoids, waxing, or fragranced products until your clinician says your skin is ready. The peel solution should be selected and applied by a trained professional.
When to seek care
Contact the treating clinic if burning becomes intense, swelling increases, blisters form, crusting spreads, or the treated area becomes increasingly painful. Seek urgent care for facial swelling affecting breathing or vision. New widespread darkening, pale patches, or signs of infection also deserve review rather than another exfoliating treatment.
Questions for your doctor
Which depth and ingredient fit my concern and skin tone? What should I stop beforehand, how long might peeling last, and which symptoms mean I should contact you?

Questions people ask
Does a stronger peel always work better?
No. A stronger peel can bring more irritation and recovery, so suitability matters more than intensity.
Can peels treat acne marks?
Some peels may help uneven tone, but active acne and post-inflammatory darkening need an individual plan.
