Tiger Balm for tension headaches: what to know

Tension headaches often feel like pressure or a band around the head, with tenderness in the scalp, neck, or shoulders. Tiger Balm is a scented topical rub containing ingredients such as menthol and camphor. Its cooling or warming sensation can distract from discomfort at the skin surface, while gentle application may relax tight muscles. Relief is variable and temporary; a headache that keeps returning may need a different approach.

Keep the product away from the eyes, lips, nostrils, broken skin, and areas of eczema. Do not swallow it, and do not use it on young children unless a clinician or pharmacist specifically advises you.

Read the product label, use a small amount on intact skin, and wash your hands afterwards. Stop if burning, swelling, rash, or worsening irritation develops.
