What should you know about Teoxane under-eye filler?

The under-eye area can look darker or tired because of hollowing, shadow, visible vessels, pigment, thin skin, puffiness or a combination of factors. Filler may help when a hollow creates a shadow, but adding product will not treat every cause. A careful examination should assess the lower eyelid, cheek support, skin quality and any swelling before an injector recommends treatment.

Because the area is delicate, bruising, swelling, tenderness, lumpiness, asymmetry or a bluish cast can occur. The immediate result may be obscured by swelling. Previous filler, allergies, eye conditions, medicines and recent procedures should be discussed, along with whether a non-injectable option or no treatment is more suitable.

Choose a clinician experienced with the anatomy around the eyes and ask which product, depth and amount are proposed. Share previous injections, blood-thinning medicines, supplements, allergies, cold sores, eye disease and planned dental or cosmetic appointments. Do not stop a prescribed medicine unless the prescriber tells you to.

Contact the injector urgently for severe or escalating pain, marked pale or dusky skin, unusual coolness, blistering or rapidly increasing swelling. Any new vision change, double vision, severe headache, weakness, speech difficulty or breathing problem requires emergency medical assessment. Do not massage a painful or discoloured area unless a clinician specifically directs you.
