What should you know about TENS units for sale?

A transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation unit sends mild electrical pulses through adhesive electrodes placed on the skin. The sensation is usually tingling rather than a muscle workout. People may use it as part of a broader plan for temporary relief from some pain, but it does not identify or correct the cause of pain.

Look for clear controls, adjustable intensity, replaceable electrodes, readable instructions, and an automatic shut-off. A listing that lacks manufacturer information, usage instructions, or cleaning advice deserves caution. Electrode pads should sit on intact skin and should not be shared between users.

Match the device to the body area and the instructions supplied with it. Start at a low setting and increase only to a comfortable tingling; stop if there is burning, sharp discomfort, unusual numbness, or skin irritation. Keep the electrodes away from the front of the neck, head, broken skin, and areas with reduced sensation. Do not use the unit while driving, bathing, sleeping, or operating machinery.

Ask a clinician or pharmacist before use if you have an implanted electrical device, a seizure disorder, an unexplained pain pattern, or are pregnant. A TENS unit can complement assessment and exercise, but it should not delay evaluation of new or worsening symptoms.
