TCA CROSS and chemical peels

Although both approaches use a chemical solution, they are not the same procedure. TCA CROSS places concentrated trichloroacetic acid into selected acne-scar depressions. A chemical peel is applied over a broader area and may be chosen for uneven tone, rough texture, or some sun-related changes. The depth and formula determine the expected reaction. A peel is not a substitute for precise scar-point treatment, and TCA CROSS is not a general treatment for every colour or texture concern.

Ask a clinician to identify the main problem before selecting an acid treatment. Active acne, comedonal acne, melasma, keratosis pilaris, sun spots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation may need different plans; links to these topics can help you prepare for that discussion. Tell the clinician about retinoids, recent sun exposure, sensitivity, and past pigment changes. Do not layer a peel, glycolic acid, or another exfoliant around a procedure unless specifically instructed. Use gentle care and sun protection during recovery.

Seek advice for severe burning, increasing pain, spreading redness, pus, fever, or swelling that worsens. Urgent assessment is needed for eye exposure, facial swelling affecting breathing, or extensive blistering. Persistent darkening, lightening, or a slow-healing area should be reviewed before any further exfoliation.
