Swollen Mouth and Lips: What to Know

The lips and nearby mouth tissues may swell after contact with a new cosmetic, toothpaste, food, or dental material. Biting, burns, chapping, or pressure can cause a local reaction. Tooth or gum problems may cause swelling with toothache, sensitivity, bad taste, or pain when chewing. Skin infection tends to bring warmth, redness, tenderness, or discharge.
