What should you know about sweat hives treatment?

Sweat-related hives are raised, itchy welts that arise as body temperature increases. Treatment aims to control itching and welts while identifying patterns such as exercise, hot environments, hot showers, illness, medicines or emotional stress.

A Skin Rash or Itchy Skin can have causes other than Hives, so treatment should match the diagnosis. Swelling beneath the skin may indicate Angioedema, especially when it affects the lips, eyelids, tongue or throat.

During a flare, stop the heat-producing activity, move somewhere cool and apply a cool compress. Loose, breathable clothing can reduce warmth and rubbing. Keep a symptom diary with timing, activity, temperature, foods and medicines.

A clinician may recommend an oral antihistamine, with the choice and dose shaped by age, pregnancy, health conditions and other medicines. Oral corticosteroid treatment may be considered in selected situations, but it is not a routine self-treatment and should only be used as directed.

Get emergency help for breathing difficulty, wheezing, faintness, throat or tongue swelling, or trouble swallowing. Book a clinical review when flares recur, interfere with activity or sleep, involve marked skin swelling, or do not respond to the plan you were given.
