What should you know about suspected molar pregnancy?

A molar pregnancy is an uncommon pregnancy in which abnormal placental tissue develops instead of a normally developing pregnancy. It may be identified through bleeding, unusually high pregnancy hormone levels, an ultrasound finding, or a combination of these. Bleeding between periods or during pregnancy has many possible causes, so that symptom alone cannot establish a molar pregnancy.
