What should you know about super itchy skin pregnancy?

Pregnancy can make skin drier or more sensitive, and stretching skin may itch. Asteatotic Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis, Contact Dermatitis, Hives, and Psoriasis can cause itch with visible changes. Scabies may cause intense itch and affect household members. Skin Yeast Infection can affect warm folds, while Lichen Planus can produce a more specific rash. The symptom alone does not identify one condition; location, timing, and appearance help guide assessment.

Use fragrance-free moisturiser after a short lukewarm wash. Choose loose clothing, keep nails short, and use a cool compress instead of vigorous scratching. Stop newly introduced soaps, detergents, or perfumes if symptoms followed a change. Check every cream, tablet, or herbal product with your maternity clinician, pharmacist, or doctor before use, because pregnancy changes treatment choices.

Contact your maternity team promptly for intense itch without a rash, itch especially strong on the palms or soles, or symptoms worse at night. Seek urgent help for facial swelling, trouble breathing, faintness, blistering, widespread peeling, fever, or a rapidly spreading rash.

Ask whether the pattern fits a pregnancy-related skin change, whether examination or tests are needed, and which moisturisers or medicines are suitable. Mention sleep disruption, household itching, new products, pain, or fever.
