What should you know about Sunny Anderson and ulcerative colitis?

Ulcerative colitis affects the lining of the large bowel and rectum. Symptoms can come and go, with quieter periods followed by flares. Alongside diarrhoea and abdominal pain, a person may notice blood or mucus in stool, urgency, tiredness, reduced appetite, or weight change. These symptoms are not specific to ulcerative colitis, so diagnosis usually combines the history, examination, stool or blood tests, and sometimes a camera examination of the bowel.
