Sugar allergy and itchy skin: what to know

An allergy may involve another ingredient, such as milk, egg, nuts, wheat, flavourings or preservatives. Itching can also follow dry skin, heat, sweating, a new product, or a condition such as hives, eczema or a yeast infection. Notice whether the itch begins soon after one specific food, whether raised welts appear, and whether symptoms occur without eating. Do not deliberately repeat a suspected reaction at home. Read ingredient labels and keep the food package if symptoms recur.
