What should you know about sudden lip swelling treatment?

Angioedema is deeper swelling beneath the skin or lining of the mouth. It may occur with Hives, after a food, medicine, insect sting, or contact exposure, or without an obvious trigger. Swelling can affect one or both lips and may involve the face, tongue, throat, hands, or bowel. A clinician may need to distinguish an allergic reaction from a medicine-related or non-allergic form because the treatment plan can differ. Do not assume the swelling is minor simply because it began at the lip.

If your lips are swelling, stop eating or using any newly introduced product and note the time it began.
