What should you know about Sturgeon anti nausea?

“Sturgeon” may be a spelling mix-up with Stugeron, a brand containing cinnarizine. Medicine names that sound alike can refer to different products, so check the box, active ingredient and strength before taking anything. Stugeron is most closely associated with motion-related nausea and balance symptoms; it is not a general answer to every episode of feeling sick.

Nausea can accompany digestive or whole-body problems such as acid reflux, food poisoning, gallstones, gastritis, gastroenteritis, heat exhaustion, hepatitis A or hypoglycaemia. A medicine that reduces the sensation may not address the cause.

Show the packaging or a clear photograph to a pharmacist if you are unsure what you have. Follow only the directions for that product. Avoid alcohol and be cautious with driving because cinnarizine can cause sleepiness. Rest, take frequent small sips of fluid and choose simple foods when able. Mention pregnancy, breastfeeding, glaucoma, Parkinson’s disease, urinary difficulty and all regular medicines before using it.

Seek urgent help for breathing trouble, facial swelling, collapse, severe abdominal pain, confusion, blood in vomit or inability to keep fluids down. Arrange a clinical assessment when nausea is recurrent, unexplained, accompanied by yellowing of the skin, or associated with very little urine or worsening weakness.
