What should you know about Strepsils for itchy throat?

An itchy throat can result from dry air, post-nasal drainage, a common cold or an allergic response. Allergic rhinitis may bring sneezing, a runny nose and itchy eyes; food allergy can cause throat symptoms soon after eating. A lozenge may wet the throat and reduce the urge to scratch or cough, but it cannot stop an immune reaction or remove an allergen. Use the lozenge according to the pack directions and check the ingredients before taking it. Sip water, avoid smoke and other known irritants, and consider a humidified room if dry air is aggravating the throat. Call emergency services for sudden throat tightness, swelling of the lips or tongue, trouble breathing, faintness or widespread hives after food or a medicine.
