What should you know about steroid for diaper rash?

Diaper dermatitis develops in a warm, moist area where urine, stool, friction, and products can irritate the skin. A topical steroid reduces inflammation, so redness, swelling, and discomfort may settle when irritation is the main problem. It does not remove moisture, repair the barrier by itself, or treat every cause of a nappy rash.

Yeast can cause a bright red rash with small spots around its edge, and a steroid alone can mask or worsen an untreated infection.
