Small bumps on the skin that are not itchy

Rough or scaly bumps can occur with dry skin and asteatotic eczema. Atopic dermatitis and contact dermatitis can sometimes leave textured or discoloured areas even when itching is absent at that moment. Psoriasis may produce well-defined, scaly plaques, while a moist fold rash may be linked with a skin yeast infection.

Scabies is commonly itchy, but symptoms can vary and a recent exposure matters. Hives usually come and go, so a fixed bump that remains in one place needs a different assessment. Lichen planus can cause distinct flat-topped bumps or patches.

Use a gentle cleanser, moisturise dry areas, and avoid picking, harsh scrubs, fragranced products, and unnecessary treatment experiments. Check whether the bumps started after a new product, medicine, shaving routine, heat exposure, or friction from clothing.

Photograph the area in good light and record its location, texture, duration, and any changes in colour, size, pain, scale, drainage, or bleeding. This information can make an appointment more useful.

Arrange a medical review if bumps persist, multiply, change shape or colour, become painful, bleed, ulcerate, or fail to improve after removing a suspected irritant. Seek prompt care for spreading warmth and redness, pus, fever, or facial swelling.

What features distinguish this from eczema, psoriasis, follicle inflammation, or a yeast-related rash? Could a product, medicine, heat, or friction be contributing? Do I need a closer examination, skin scraping, or biopsy?
