Laser treatment may remove some skin tags by using focused energy, but a clinician must first confirm the growth is suitable for this approach. The choice depends on the tag's size, thickness, location, skin tone, and whether it has features that need further assessment.

A laser delivers controlled energy to the targeted tissue. Depending on the device and the clinician's plan, the tag may be vaporised or the tissue may be sealed as it is treated. Local anaesthetic may be offered when appropriate. The area can look red, swollen, crusted, or darker while it heals. Pigment changes and scarring are possible, with risk influenced by treatment settings and individual skin characteristics.

Have the lesion examined before booking a cosmetic laser session; laser treatment may not provide a sample for laboratory assessment. Tell the clinician about medicines, a tendency to form raised scars, recent tanning, cold sores near the treatment area, and any previous reaction to light-based procedures. Follow the aftercare plan, avoid picking a crust, and protect healing skin from sun exposure as advised. Do not use a home laser on a groin, eyelid, or other delicate site.
