Skin rash under the breast with an unpleasant smell

Friction, trapped sweat, tight clothing, and skin-on-skin contact can weaken the surface in the fold. Redness, soreness, burning, cracking, or a moist appearance may follow. A yeasty rash can have small nearby spots and a strong itch; discharge, increasing tenderness, or a worsening odour needs assessment because another infection may be present. Gently wash the area, pat it fully dry, and change damp clothing or bras promptly. Choose breathable, non-rubbing fabric and avoid fragranced products on broken skin. Do not share towels. A clinician may recommend a topical antifungal treatment when yeast is suspected; prescription antiperspirant is sometimes considered when sweating repeatedly keeps the fold wet. Avoid applying steroid cream without advice, because it can alter or mask an infection.

Arrange medical review if the rash is spreading, very painful, cracked, draining, foul-smelling, or not settling after careful drying and gentle care. Seek prompt help for fever, rapidly increasing redness, warmth, swelling, or feeling unwell. A clinician can examine the fold and decide whether yeast, bacteria, irritation, or another skin condition is responsible.

Ask whether this looks like intertrigo or cutaneous candidiasis, whether a swab is needed, and which product is safe on any broken skin. Mention new products, sweating, diabetes, medicines, and how quickly the odour appeared.
