What should you know about skin peel off treatment?

Short answer

Skin peel-off treatment uses a chemical solution to loosen surface cells, with the choice and strength matched to your skin and treatment goal.

This answers one question. It is not a diagnosis and does not replace an assessment by a licensed doctor.

What the treatment involves

A professional peel can target the outer surface or act more deeply, depending on the solution and contact time. It may be used for acne, clogged pores, keratosis pilaris, melasma, sun spots, sun-damaged skin, or marks left after inflammation. Glycolic acid is one ingredient used in some peels. Stinging, redness, dryness, tightness, and flaking can occur during recovery. A peel is not the same as physically pulling skin away; peeling should happen as the skin responds, not because it is forcibly removed.

Before and after a peel

Share your skin history, recent sun exposure, cold sores, active rash, medicines, and home products with the practitioner. Use only the preparation advised. After treatment, wash gently, apply the recommended bland moisturiser, protect treated skin from sun, and leave flakes alone. Pause scrubs, waxing, shaving over the area, and strong active products until the skin has recovered. Home products should never be layered or left on longer than their directions state.

When to seek care

Ask for prompt review if pain, swelling, redness, or burning is intense or worsening, or if blisters, open skin, pus, or spreading warmth develop. Eye exposure, facial swelling with breathing trouble, or a rapidly spreading reaction needs urgent help. Persistent colour change should be assessed so further irritation can be avoided.

Questions for your doctor

What skin concern is this peel intended to address? Which ingredients and depth are appropriate for me? What should I stop beforehand, and what is the safest way to restart my routine?

Questions people ask

Does peeling mean the treatment worked?

Flaking shows a surface response, but it does not by itself prove the desired result or indicate that more peeling is needed.

Can I repeat a peel when my skin is still flaky?

Wait until the skin has recovered and follow the schedule provided by a qualified practitioner; repeating too soon can increase irritation.
