What should you know about skin allergy medicine?

Follow the label and do not combine products with the same active ingredient. Check whether drowsiness affects driving or work. Reduce contact with a known trigger when possible and use the skin care recommended for your condition.

Get emergency help for swelling of the lips, tongue or throat, breathing difficulty, faintness, or rapidly spreading symptoms. Arrange medical review for a widespread rash, painful skin, blistering, fever, signs of infection, or symptoms that keep returning despite treatment. These patterns may need a different diagnosis or treatment approach.

Ask which symptom the medicine is intended to treat, when to take it, how long to try it, and which side effects should lead you to stop or seek help. Ask whether an allergy trigger should be investigated.
