What should you know about Sirdalud muscle relaxant?

Sirdalud contains tizanidine, a medicine that acts on the nervous system to reduce excessive muscle tone. It may be prescribed when painful tightening interferes with movement or rest, including Back Muscle Spasm or Muscle Cramps. It does not identify or remove the cause of the spasm, so persistent pain, weakness or altered sensation still needs assessment.

Take it exactly as prescribed and do not change the dose or stop regular treatment suddenly without medical advice. Until you know its effect, avoid driving, heights and tasks requiring alertness. Alcohol and other sedating medicines can worsen drowsiness. Tell the prescriber about liver disease, low blood pressure and all medicines, especially medicines that can interact with tizanidine. Rise slowly and keep a record of troublesome effects.

Get urgent help for fainting, severe breathing difficulty, swelling of the face or throat, extreme sleepiness, confusion, or an irregular heartbeat. Contact the prescriber promptly for yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, severe weakness, persistent dizziness or a marked fall in blood pressure. New leg weakness or loss of bladder or bowel control with back pain also needs urgent assessment.

Ask what is causing the spasm, how long the medicine is intended for, which medicines or drinks to avoid, and what to do if a dose makes you unusually sleepy or dizzy.
