Side Effects of Laser Wart Removal

The laser delivers energy to wart tissue, so the treated surface may resemble a small wound. Tenderness, warmth, crusting, or mild swelling can occur during repair. Colour may temporarily become darker or lighter, especially after inflammation or when the treatment area receives sun. A wart can also return because the virus may remain in nearby skin; this does not necessarily mean the procedure caused a new problem.

Follow the dressing and cleansing instructions provided by the treating team. Keep the site protected, do not pick the crust, and avoid friction, swimming, or unapproved creams until the surface has closed. Protect healed skin from sun to reduce prolonged colour change. Attend review if advised, because some warts need more than one treatment and the clinician may check for infection or scarring.

Seek prompt advice for increasing pain, spreading redness, marked warmth, pus, fever, bleeding that does not stop with pressure, or delayed healing. Urgent assessment is also sensible if swelling affects an eyelid, airway, or another functionally important area.

Ask how to clean and cover the site, which pain relief is suitable, what changes are expected during healing, and how recurrence will be recognised. Ask when exercise, swimming, shaving, or cosmetic products can resume.
