Scarlet Fever After Antibiotics

Antibiotics treat the bacterial cause of scarlet fever, but the throat, fever, tiredness, and rash may not disappear at once. The skin can peel as the rash settles. A sore throat or swollen glands may remain during recovery, while a fever that returns or symptoms that worsen suggest the illness may need reassessment. A rash can also reflect an allergic reaction to medicine, especially when it is raised, intensely itchy, or accompanied by facial swelling.

Take Antibiotic Treatment precisely as prescribed and do not share leftover doses. Encourage fluids, rest, soft foods, and gentle skin care. Seek emergency help for trouble breathing, swelling of the lips or tongue, fainting, severe dehydration, confusion, or a rapidly spreading purple or blistering rash. A clinician can check whether the infection persists, another condition is present, or a medicine reaction needs treatment.
