Runny nose, sneezing and coughing

Frequent sneezing, nasal itch, watery eyes, and a cough from throat drainage can occur with Allergic Rhinitis, Pet Allergy, or House Dust Mite Allergy. A Common Cold may add congestion, throat irritation, and a cough as mucus moves down the throat. COVID-19 and Influenza can cause cough with nasal symptoms and may also bring tiredness, fever, or body aches. Sinusitis may cause facial pressure and drainage that persists. These conditions overlap, so the symptom cluster does not identify one diagnosis on its own.

Rest, drink fluids, and use saline spray to clear nasal mucus. Cover coughs, wash hands, and avoid close contact with vulnerable people while you feel acutely unwell. Reduce dust, pet exposure, smoke, and fragrance if they worsen sneezing. A pharmacist can discuss an antihistamine or other symptom treatment after checking your age, health conditions, and regular medicines. Follow directions and avoid doubling up ingredients in combination products.

Seek urgent help for difficulty breathing, chest pain, blue lips, confusion, severe weakness, or swelling of the face or throat. Arrange medical advice if symptoms are getting worse, prevent sleep, return frequently, or come with dehydration, significant facial pain, or a persistent high fever. Consider local testing and infection-control advice when COVID-19 or Influenza is possible.
