What should you know about rosehip oil for keratosis pilaris?

Keratosis pilaris creates small, rough bumps when keratin collects around hair follicles, often on the upper arms, thighs, cheeks, or buttocks. An oil can reduce a dry, tight feeling and make the surface feel smoother, yet it does not address every part of the process. Redness, pus, pain, or a sudden change may point to another problem, such as folliculitis or ingrown hairs.

Patch-test a small area first, then apply a thin layer to clean, slightly damp skin if it causes no reaction. Choose a simple, fragrance-free product and stop if burning, itching, or new bumps appear. Gentle moisturising and products containing urea, lactic acid, or salicylic acid may be discussed with a clinician. Do not scrub the bumps or pick at them.
