Rheumatoid arthritis finger joints: symptoms and care

Rheumatoid arthritis commonly targets the lining of joints. In the fingers, this can make knuckles or the middle joints feel warm, tender, puffy, and difficult to bend. Arrange prompt assessment for a suddenly hot, intensely painful, or rapidly swollen finger, especially with fever or feeling unwell. Seek urgent help if a finger becomes pale, blue, numb, cold, or cannot move after an injury. A persistent pattern of swollen finger joints also deserves a planned review, even if pain is manageable.
