Rennie for heartburn

Heartburn is a burning sensation that can rise from the upper abdomen towards the chest or throat. It often follows meals, worsens when lying down, and may come with sour fluid or regurgitation. Acid Reflux is common, but Gastritis, a Peptic Ulcer, or a Hiatus Hernia can feel similar. Obesity can increase pressure on the stomach. Rennie neutralises acid already present, but relief does not prove that reflux is the cause.

Use the label directions and ask a pharmacist about interactions with regular medicines. Note meals and positions that trigger symptoms. Smaller portions, avoiding lying down soon after eating, and raising the head of the bed may help. Frequent symptoms should prompt discussion of Acid Reflux Medication rather than repeated self-treatment.

Get emergency help for severe chest pain, breathlessness, fainting, sweating, or pain spreading to the arm, jaw, or back. Arrange review for difficulty swallowing, repeated vomiting, blood in vomit, black stools, unexplained weight loss, or recurring heartburn. New chest symptoms should be assessed even when they resemble familiar heartburn.

Ask whether your symptoms fit reflux, how often an antacid is reasonable, and whether testing or another treatment is needed. Mention pregnancy, kidney disease, all medicines, and anti-inflammatory painkillers.
