Flat red dots on skin that are not itchy

A smooth, flat mark can result from surface irritation, a colour change after inflammation, or small vessels close to the skin. New products, friction, heat, and sun exposure are useful clues. Dry scale may accompany Asteatotic Eczema, Atopic Dermatitis, Contact Dermatitis, or Psoriasis, while a ring or moist edge can point toward Skin Yeast Infection. Scabies is less consistent when there is no itch, but a clinician considers exposure and distribution rather than one feature alone.

Check the dots in good light and gently press one with a clear glass or fingertip to see whether it temporarily lightens; do not press hard or injure the skin. Photograph the area, stop new products, moisturise, and avoid scratching or sun exposure. Arrange a review when the marks remain, multiply, recur, or develop scale, bruising, pain, or blisters.

Seek urgent care if flat dots that do not fade with pressure appear suddenly, spread, or accompany fever, severe headache, neck stiffness, breathing trouble, unusual bleeding, faintness, or marked illness. A single mark that bleeds, crusts, changes, or does not heal should also be checked.

Do the marks blanch, and does their distribution suggest irritation or inflammation? Could any medicines, illness, or recent exposure explain them? What changes should I photograph or report?
