Plasminex and tranexamic acid: what to know

Tranexamic acid helps an existing clot stay in place for longer. It may be prescribed for heavy menstrual bleeding or other situations where a clinician wants to reduce bleeding. It does not treat every cause of heavy bleeding, and it is not a contraceptive or a replacement for investigating a new change in your periods.
