What should you know about plasma pen pigmentation removal?

The device creates tiny areas of thermal injury at the surface. A pigment mark is not automatically suitable for this approach: a clinician may first identify whether it is a sun-related spot, post-inflammatory change, melasma, a mole, or another lesion. Treating an undiagnosed or changing mark can delay proper assessment. Skin may look darker as crusts form, then lighter or patchy as inflammation settles. The response depends on the cause of the pigment, its depth, the treated site, and individual healing.

Have the mark examined before booking treatment, especially if it is new, changing, bleeding, itchy, or different from nearby marks. Share your history of pigment changes after cuts, eczema, acne, or procedures. After treatment, cleanse only as instructed, leave crusts intact, avoid picking, and protect the area from sunlight with the clinician's recommended method. Avoid irritating acids, retinoids, bleaching products, heat, and unapproved cosmetics until the surface has healed.

Ask for review if redness expands, pain increases, swelling becomes marked, the area leaks fluid, or healing seems to stop. Seek prompt assessment for a treated mark that continues to change, bleeds, or develops a persistent sore. Urgent help is needed for facial swelling with breathing difficulty or signs of a severe allergic reaction.
